Ladies Doing Well at Scotty Nguyen Poker
November 05, 2007 - Crystalynn Harris
The Scotty Nguyen Poker Challenge IV began on Thursday, November 1, 2007 at the Cherokee Casino near Tulsa, OK. So far six events are in the bag. We’ve had two women at the top spot, one in the runner-up position and more have made bank. Obviously “The Prince of Poker” loves the ladies…and they love him back.
Event #1 was the Jack & Jill tournament. 305 teams paid to play in the male/female team tourney. At the top of the heap were Lynda & Jason Mitchell, a married couple from Broken Arrow, OK. They took home $4,251 each. LeeAnn Hammond of Farmersville, TX made $167 in the event.
LeeAnn also hit the top spot in the $230 buy-in No Limit Hold’em Event held on Saturday, November 3rd. She beat out 303 other players to win $17,901. Ann Haney took 21st place and Heather Painter made $231 for a finish in 33rd position.
Finally, LeAnn Lay made it to second place against Mark “Brian” Hilliard in the $120 buy-in, NLHE tournament on Sunday November 4th. She earned $4,896 for her effort. Cherie Baber, the 2007 Ladies NLHE Oklahoma State Champion, turned in a solid performance, coming in 22nd.
Congrats, ladies!
