Anna Wroblewski Makes Two Final Tables at Aussie Millions
January 10, 2008 - Deanna Goodson
Anna Wroblewski, aka the Poker Pixie, is one fierce competitor. Right now, the lovely Vietnamese native is burning up the felt Down Under. She’s in Melbourne for the Crown Casino’s 2008 Aussie Millions tournament series.
So far, five events have been completed in the series. Wroblewski has broken the top ten in two of these. In Event #2, Wroblewski made it to fourth place. Despite missing the first few orbits of final table action – she was playing an online tournament at the time – Wroblewski managed to double up through the chip leader and eventual champ, Australian fashion designer Chris Chronis, several times to stay alive.
Unfortunately, Chronis was also the one to eliminate her. She re-raised the action pre-flop with a K,Q of diamonds, putting all her chips in after 10h,8s,8h came down on the flop. Chronis called with his A,J in the hole and beat her with the high card when no king or queen hit the turn or river. Wroblewski earned $15,120 for her efforts in that Pot Limit Hold’em Tournament.
A few days later, Wroblewski sat down with some of the most feared players in the game today such as Jimmy “Gobboboy” Fricke, Kevin “BeLOWaBOVe” Saul, and Josh “JJ Prodigy” Field, who just turned 18 and is ready to play some live action poker on the international circuit. The name of the game was No-Limit Hold’em. This $1,100 buy-in tourney had rebuys so you know the action was wild during the first hour or so.
Wroblewski needed all the rebuys she could handle. As she told PokerNews, "I've lost with A-Q four times, and A-K twice!”
All of those rebuys did pay off for the cutie, however, as she finished in seventh place.
