5 Poker Lady Web Sites We Love

December 08, 2007 - Domenica DiPiero

Liz Lieu is awesome (Credit: LizLieu.net)

We love to support women in poker. We also love to support women who write about poker. Why not? It’s a big enough web-iverse for all of us to traverse. We just think that women in poker are the most kick-ass creatures. They’re intelligent, savvy and so freakin’ cool. We enjoy reading what they have to write be it about their families, their lives and, of course, the game-they love to play.

We have each of these sites bookmarked because we think they’re that worthy.

5) Poker.About.com – Toby Leah Bochan is the author of The Badass Girl’s Guide To Poker. She’s got a master’s degree in fiction and poetry from the Michener School at the University of Texas at Austin. Her site is a one-stop shop for poker rules, strategy and industry news.

4) Poker-Babes – Shirley Rosario began her poker career as a prop player at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles. She’s been a serious tournament player since 2002. Poker-Babes features extensive profiles on all the top players, both male and female. Shirley gives you honest commentary and advice in her journal, which is regularly updated as well as some of the best strategy pieces written anywhere. We also love the guest articles, several of which were written by our very own editor, Deanna Goodson.

3) Liz Lieu’s Official Web Site – Stylish and well put together just like the lady herself, Liz Lieu’s official web site is a multimedia dream. Holiday music greets us – it is December after all, people – as well as a journal entry about Lieu’s crazy schedule. She also features links to her favorite charities which shows how big a heart beats inside the diminutive Poker Diva.

2) Ms. Poker – The Official Blog of Susie Isaacs – Susie Isaacs is to women’s poker what Doyle Brunson is to … the rest of poker we guess. The lady is iconic. She’s a true legend. The Nashville native is also made of steel and sharp wit. Reading her blog is like having a conversation with the lady herself. She even tosses in a few off-color jokes from time to time.

1) Annie Duke’s Official Web Site – Annie knows poker. The articulate mom of four combines activism with entertainment poker with parenting and doesn’t apologize to anyone for who she is and what she stands for. Annie is comfortable in her own skin and is actively living her life. Her site reflects all of Annie’s interests – there’s even a YouTube link to her Congressional testimony against the UIGEA in November 2007 – and does so beautifully. Annie also features a Q&A section where she answers her fans questions. We love her accessibility!
