On February 2, 2008, the Women in Poker Hall of Fame (WiPHOF) will induct its first members. Mike Sexton, the voice of the World Poker Tour, will be the emcee for the event. Jan Fisher of PokerPlayerNewspaper and a savvy poker player in her own right will be a guest speaker.

Attendance is restricted to member of the WiPHOF. However, both men and women can become members for $75, 20 percent of which is donated to the Breast Cancer Angels Foundation. Head over to womenspokerhalloffame.com for more information on that.

The following four women will become official WiPHOF members on February 2, 2008:

  • Susie Isaacs – winner of back to back ladies championships at the WSOP in 1996 and 1997, Ms. Isaacs finished tenth in the WSOP Main Event in 1998. She’s also penned several poker books including “MsPoker: Up Close and Personal.”.
  • Barbara Enright – still the only woman to make the final table of the WSOP Main Event, a feat she achieved in 1995. Enright is the first woman to win a bracelet in an open event and the first and only (so far) woman to have been inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame.
  • Linda Johnson – WPT commentator and former publisher of Card Player magazine. Known as “The First Lady of Poker”, Johnson was the original chairperson of the Poker Players Alliance and is still an active member of its board of directors.
  • Marsha Waggoner – Aussie native Waggoner was once a blackjack dealer. The lovely lady, who’s currently wed to fellow pro Kenna James, has cashed in more than 100 tournaments world-wide, 18 of those occurred at the World Series of Poker.

After the induction ceremony, a $500 buy-in NLHE tournament will be held at Binion's. This is open to the public. The following day (February 3rd), WiPOH members will head back to Binion's for a $1,000 freeroll.

The WiPOH's board of directors includes poker pros Karina Jett and Maureen Feduniak as well as Lupe Soto, the founder of the Ladies International Poker Series (LIPS).
