Player Profile - Victoria Coren
September 28, 2006 -The daughter of humorist Alan Coren shows a sharp nib in her writing; her books include King Lear: Fathers and Daughters, Love 16, and a book (Once more with feeling) about her attempt to make a hard-core porn movie. Along with a monthly column for Esquire magazine, a weekly column for The Observer newspaper and various regular articles for other publications her success as a writer would be enough for most people. However, Victoria, a graduate of Oxford University seems to want more. She's currently ranked among the top 4 female poker players in Europe so she obviously has the talent to command extra for herself!
Victoria appeared in five episodes of the popular British poker televisions series Late Night Poker. While she didn’t make it to a final there, she must have been saving herself for the show’s spin-off series, Celebrity Poker Club, where she took charge in the second season by winning it all!
Should you be on London’s Edgware Road you might catch her at the Victoria Casino, one of two she plays at regularly. In addition to casino play (and not to forget poker-TV-show play) she also has regular home games.
And if you can’t catch her at the casino and aren’t lucky enough to be a player at her home games, you just might find her online, playing at ParadisePoker under the not-so-sneaky name of Vicky Coren.
Note: Victoria just won her first major event at the Victoria Casino! Yup! She was the first place winner at the 2006 European Poker Tour's London Event. Check out this article for more information on that!
