Tales from the Felt: I Finally Won One

Yes, indeedy, y'all! I won a Titan Poker's Ladies WSOP Main Event Qualifier. I'm going to play in the event on May 31st with about 200 other ladies. Each of us is vying for the opportunity to win a seat to the World Series of Poker No-Limit Holdem Championship - the Ladies' Main Event to be played on July 9th and 10th. Last year's winner - Miss Jennifer Tilly. Yes!
I've been trying since early February to win in. Well, I tried for about a month and a half. Then, I took a break. You can check out this ARTICLE for more info on that.
I decided to play one more last week. I got a free token from Titan for a $10 tourney and won $40 some odd dollars so I figured I could spring for a $5 + .50 buy-in for the Ladies WSOP event. I played on Monday, May 15th. I wasn't expecting too much. I just wanted to play and to see if I could do it.
My strategy was to see a lot of cheap flops early and let people think I was a 'loosey goosey'. Then, I tightened up when I got a little low. And then, I hit a bunch of really good cards. I got seriously lucky on a few hands. Oh yes, I made at least two full houses during the two hours it took me and three other ladies to win the seats to the May 31st online tournament. I also had pocket rockets twice, pockets eights, tens and jacks too. I capitalized on some premium hands and wasn't afraid to be aggressive.
Now, I knocked some jerk out who said that I was nothing but a stupid 'byotch'. I think the player was a guy for a few reasons. Why he was playing in an Ladies Event is beyond me, but I can't really prove it either way!?! I mean Titan isn't about to award the prize to a guy. They have rules against it. Some people are true idiots. What was the point?
I admit it. I did get lucky on the hand that knocked the SHIM out. I called a bet with pocket fives - I was in for the blind and pot odds were good. Yes, I made a full house on the river. But, if you think LUCK AND POKER have nothing to do with each other, you've got the problem. Besides, I had the person covered by a good amount and I was sick of having my blinds stolen. So what if I cracked the she-male's kings!!!! Awww! Cry me a river.
I've taken plenty of bad beats lately. There's no need to name call and denounce a whole gender because I hit a nice card on the river. This individual wasn't representing a hand as good as they had. They laid a good price to call so I did. I figured it was a good time to take a chance. Guess what! It was. And the fact that I knocked this person out was verrry satisfying.
Of course, I'll have to change up my strategy for the May 31st event. That event only has one winner. I'll be playing tighter and feeling the field out a bit more. Can I win it? I don't know. Am I going to give it all I've got? You bet your booty, I am. I want to play at the WSOP this year. I just can't afford it otherwise.
There's still one more satellite feeder into this event. It's Friday, May 19th. The buy-in for this one is $11 + 1 but 2 seats are awarded for every 10 players. My tournament only had one seat per every 10 players.
