Checking Out Shannon Elizabeth’s Poker Stats
October 28, 2007 - Jon Watson
Shannon Elizabeth has caused many a man to drool over her on the felt and off. The “American Pie” cutie with the beautiful brown eyes and dangerous curves is one mean poker player in her own right. Behind the pretty smile and ample assets is a true card sharp. The Houston, Texas native, who was born in September 1973 – which makes her a smokin’ hot 34 years old, got her first official taste of tournament poker when she signed on to do a little show called “Celebrity Poker Showdown”.
Since then, Elizabeth, who was previously married to actor/director/part-time poker player Joe Reitman, Annie Duke’s current beau, has fallen in love with the game. She’s become a fixture at cash games, charity poker tournaments and … tournaments like the WSOP.
We couldn’t be happier. Shannon’s game is aggressive and intelligent. She’s also fearless. At the 2006 National Heads-Up Poker Championships, she defeated Humberto Brenes, Jeff Madsen and Barry Greenstein before the eventual winner, Paul Wasicka, took her out in the semifinals. She received $125,000 for her third-place finish.
Elizabeth, who makes an appearance in the video game World Series of Poker 2008: Race for the Bracelets, won the first Nicky Hilton Poker Tournament at Caesar’s Palace on New Year’s Eve 2005, taking home $55k. She’s cashed four times at the World Series of Poker in the past two years, each time in No-Limit Hold’em, her favorite brand of the game. She sits in 67th position on the top female money-earner’s list so you know she’s got to be good.
Shannon has also found a way to include poker in her day job. She starred in the 2006 flick, “Deal”, along with Burt Reynolds. She played the love interest of a young gun who winds up heads-up at the WPT championship against his mentor. The former fashion model and aspiring pro tennis player is also part of the soon to be released film “Grand”, directed by Zak Penn. In this improv comedy, Elizabeth take part in an actual tournament.
