December 07, 2007 - Deanna Goodson
The Seven Clans Poker Cup began on Monday, December 3rd. The series, which takes place at the Coushatta Resort & Casino in Kinder, Louisiana attracts poker enthusiasts from all over the south, especially the home state of Louisiana and nearby places such as Texas and Alabama. Three champs have been crowned at the Coushatta thus far. We’re sorry to say that none of these has two X chromosomes. Yup! They’ve all been men so far.
Regardless, the ladies have fared well. In the team competition on Tuesday, December 4th, Carrolyn Bates & Elaine Lewis took ninth place and$1,048. On Wednesday, the fifth Sandra MGowan of Eunica, LA finished eighth in the $330 buy-in NLHE contest. She received $1,780 for her efforts.
Still to come is the $3,000 buy-in Main Event, beginning on Saturday December 8th. Poker legend, Susie Isaacs, is scheduled to play in that tournament.
