Problem Gambling - Some Signs and Symptoms

Compulsive gambling is a big problem. It can ruin your career, your family, your finances and your love! Those who struggle with compulsive gambling just can’t control their behavior. They need help!
Here are some signs and symptoms of compulsive gambling. If one or more of these sounds like you or someone you love, you might be a compulsive gambler.
- You spend a major chunk of your time engaging in gambling-related activities.
- You've increased time spent gambling and amount spent on gambling – usually it's a marked increase!
- You cancel other plans to gamble.
- You boast about your wins, remain evasive about your losses.
- You gamble to avoid your problems.
- You have frequent absences from home or work.
- You notice an increase in irritability/moodiness/hostility.
- You withdraw from friends and family.
Help is out there. Contact Gamblers Anonymous or another organization like it if you suspect that gambling is a problem for you or someone you love! Many people can get their problem gambling under control with the help of medications and psychotherapy. It's not hopeless!
