Online Weekend Tournament Report – 8.26.07
August 29, 2007 - Deanna Goodson
With the FTOPS V completed, Full Tilt introduced its new and improved weekly guarantee. They upped the ante to $750,000 this past Sunday. 3,784 folks made their way to FTP to play in this event, driving up the prize pool to $756,800. 522 peeps cashed.
When the final table began, TAHUR5 had a commanding chip lead with more than double his nearest competitor, NCSUBODOG. Unfortunately, NCSUBODOG couldn’t improve. In fact, he saw his chips bleed away. With less than ten times the big blind left in his stack, he open-pushed all-in preflop with an A,Q. spirit619 called and flipped over pocket queens. The board didn’t help the DOG so he hit the road with his tail between his legs in ninth place.
Later on in the match, spirit619 would knock two opponents out in a single hand with his pocket tens. SugarD and SlmPickens hit the rails in fourth and fifth places respectively. As three handed play got underway, spirit was in the chip lead with 4.1 mil. Unfortunately, as is often the case in poker, he was the next one eliminated after pokachump, the eventual winner, made a two-pair on the river.
Here are the final results:
1) pokachump - $133,991.44
2) TAHUR5 - $80,977.60
3) spirit619 - $52,976
4) Sugar D - $41,775.36
5) SlmPickens - $31,331.52
6) Martine23 - $23,233.76
7) sanex21 - $17,406.40
8) southside1 - $13,622.40
9) NCSUBODOG - $10,141.12
Ultimate Bet continues to struggle to meet its $200,000 Guarantee. The site saw only 889 entrants on Sunday and had to pay over $20,000. Jeff Williams, using the moniker YelloSub86, came into the final table as the chip leader. The prominent online poker player was the EPT’s Season Two champ, earning over $1.1 million for that effort.
Early on in the match, he extended his chip lead by knocking out his nearest competitor, gezun, in ninth place. He never really looked back until klslzc took the lead during three-handed play. After eliminating PokerRx with trip fives, klslzc was poised to win this thing heads-up. However, one can never count the talented and experienced Williams out. A smart double-up gave YelloSub back the lead – and, soon after, the win.
These are the final table facts, folks:
1) YelloSub86 - $45,000
2) klslcz - $27,000
3) pokerRx - $18,500
4) OSUBuckMan - $13,000
5) kgoule - $11,000
6) Karolina23 - $9,000
7) wallgreenmang - $7,000
8) tdizz1e - $5,000
9) gezun - $3,500
10) CRUSH41 - $2,000
Party Poker had 1,423 guests for its Weekly $300,000 Guarantee. dswdo made his second final table appearance at the site in as many weeks. After knocking out both kooi116 and Play_for_shoes on the second hand with an ace-high flush on the river, he looked unstoppable.
Late on, dswdo claimed his next victim. Tompengpung1 went all-in and saw himself up against the flopped set of his more than lucky opponent. His fifth place finish was good for $13,800. As heads-up play got underway, dswdo lost the chip lead to jamiejackpot. However, that didn’t last long. Within five minutes, dswdo took over the lead – and won the match.
Here are the final results:
1) dswdo - $60,000
2) jamiejackpot - $33,000
3) Masha3431 - $20,700
4) EdKaddet - $16,350

Bodog continues to pay out an overlay for their Weekly $100,000 Guarantee. On Sunday, 873 players sat down to play including THAY3R, online pro Thayer Rasmussen, and Blake “Balla13” Cahail, both of whom were sitting at the final table. However, the chip lead belonged to a bloke by the name of Bulletman99.
Unfortunately, Balla’s experience didn’t prevent him from being the first man out. Dannenman raised the big blind to 32k. Balla reraised to 82k. Dannenman re-raised back, all-in. Balla called with his As,9s. Dannenman flipped over his pocket threes for a slight lead. The baby pair held up so Balla had to content himself with the $1,550 prize for ninth place.
THAY3R would eventually take over the chip lead from Bulletman99. The two danced on a big hand early on. The chips would serve him well all the way down to heads-up play against slimebag, the event’s champ.
These are the final table facts, folks:
1) slimebag - $25,000
2) THAY3R - $14,000
3) monkai - $9,000
4) Dannenmann - $6,500
5) juuuicy - $5,400
6) renegade440 - $4,400
7) cast - $3,400
