Obrestad's Makes European Ranking Top Ten
October 16, 2007 - Domenica DiPiero
Annette Obrestad took the poker world by storm last month when she won the World Series of Poker Europe Main Event. She became the youngest person and the only woman to win a WSOP bracelet. Wow!
We're still in awe of the Norwegian teen. She turned 19 a few days after her impressive win.
Obrestad, who was primarily an internet player until recently, was sitting at 409th position on the European rankings before this win. After that, she shot up to number five with her 4,140 points. She is the only woman in the top ten currently.
Here are the current European rankings:
1) Søren Kongsgaard (Denmark) - 8,725
2) Andreas Krause (Germany) - 6,875
3) Dave Colclough (Wales) - 4,585
4) Dave Smith (England) - 4,240
5) Annette Obrestad (Norway) - 4,140
6) Erich Kollmann (Austria) - 4,085
7) Samir Shakhtoor (Sweden) - 3,940
8) Sebastian Ruthenberg (Germany) - 3,885
9) James Dempsey (England) - 3,706
10) Siegfried Rath (Austria) - 3,630
Obrestad, who recently appeared at the Ultimate Bet Aruba Poker Classic, is hitting the live action tournament circuit pretty hard these days. On the 23rd of October, she will begin shooting Late Night Poker in the UK with big names such as Marcel Luske, David "Devilfish" Ulliott and Donnacha O'Dea.
Also appearing in the tournament are lady pros Xuyen "Bad Girl" Pham, Jen Mason and Maria Demetriou. Agnieszka Rylik, a Polish journalist, will sit in on the action as well after receiving a special coaching session with WPT commentator and WSOP bracelet-holder, Mike Sexton as will Maud Mulder, who shot to fame on the Danish edition of Pop Idol.
