Annette Obrestad Finishes Second at EPT Dublin Event
November 06, 2007 - Domenica DiPiero
Annette Obrestad won the WSOPE inaugural event in September. The poker world was pleasantly shocked and apparently delighted (as we were) that the young Norwegian phenom made the transition to live-action play so beautifully. Everyone predicted big things for Annette.
However, no one expected her to follow-up with another impressive run so quickly. The lovely 19 year old she turned that magic number only a day after her WSOPE win entered the final table at the EPT Dublin tournament late last week with the chip lead. Obrestad looked poised to be the second woman to win an EPT event remember Vicky Coren won the EPT London in 2006.
Obrestad ran over the final table, eliminating fellow Norwegian Trond Eidsvig and three others (Caspar Hansen, Michael Durrer and Reijo Manninen). Unfortunately, she lost a pivotal hand to the eventual winner, Reuben Peters, a stock trader from the United States. She finished in a disappointing (only to her) second place and told reporters, I made a few mistakes. Im not happy.
Annette has added another 297,800 to her live-action winnings to date. This puts her at #3 on the all-time ladies money list behind Kathy Liebert and Annie Duke.
Here are the final results for the EPT Dublin:
1) Reuben Peters 532,620
2) Annette Obrestad 297,800
3) Reijo Manninen 178,680
4) Trond Eidsvig 127,630
5) Daan Ruiter 105,510
6) Anders Pettersson 83,380
7) Michael Durrer 66,370
8) Thierry van den Berg 47,650
9) Casper Hansen 30,630
