Katja Thater had one heck of a summer at the World Series of Poker. The pretty German, who has a horse-breeding business on the side, finished first in the World Series of Poker Razz championship, becoming one of a handful of ladies to earn a bracelet in an open event. In fact, she’s the only one to take a title at the Rio.
A few days prior to that, the PokerStars sponsored pro, made it to the final table of the Ladies No-Limit Hold’em Championship. Thater took fifth place in that event. She had a total of three cashes at the WSOP this summer and earned the Leading Lady statuette at the Poker Europa Awards in December, beating out teen phenom Annette Obrestad.
Also in 2007, Thater made the final table of the EPT Polish Open in Warsaw. Her fifth place finish was good for $84,538. She also made a splash at the EPT Barcelona Open and was the top female finisher at the Poker Olympic de Open 2 in Germany on December 15th.
