Jo Abolins Takes Third at PokerProForAYear Competition
January 09, 2008 - Domenica DiPiero
Jo Abolins is a resident of New Oxford in the United Kingdom. The lovely brunette loves to play online poker. She also takes part in home games and enjoys playing poker mostly for ‘fun.’ Her talent and skill brought her to Australia and the final table of Poker News and 888.com’s Poker Pro For A Year competition. She was the only woman sitting at the final table.
Joining Jo in the finals was her brother, Luke Abolins. Jo mentioned that it was a “bit awkward” playing with her sibling at the Crown Casino on Monday January 7, 2008. The finals got underway at 1pm local Australia time and lasted for nearly six tense hours. Jo played a great game, making it all the way to three-handed play. On her final hand, her brother Luke held the high card, sending her to the rail with $1,000 worth of online entries at PacificPoker.com.
Jo says she plans to use those for “the World Series of Poker.” Making it to the Big Show in the summer of 2008 is her next poker goal.
We expect she’ll make that goal easily.
Congrats are also in order to her brother Luke. He won the whole tournament, earning his own blog at PokerProForAYear.com and entries into four major tournaments across the globe in 2008.
In this clip, Jo chats with PokerNews about the experience:
