2007 Holiday Gift Guide for Chicks who Love Poker
December 24, 2007 - Deanna Goodson
It’s Christmas Eve, y’all and that puts us officially in the holiday mood. Sure, we know it’s almost too late to get a gift for your loved ones in time for the big day even if Santa got the request immediately after reading this. However, we suggest that you look over these gifts and give one of ‘em to yourself. You deserve it. You’re a tough, smart and sassy chick who loves poker. No, we don’t endorse any of these products directly. They’re just items we love and wish our significant others got us…but know they didn’t.
Why? We just have a feeling we got another ‘blender’ this year. Ugh!
Anyway, here are five special items we want to share with you. We’re going to try and pick up all five if our husbands’ credit card has enough of a limit left. You didn’t think we’d use our own, did you?:
5) Poker hoodie from Botwear. Break some ‘hearts’ as you take their chips in this cool hooded sweatshirt that’s guaranteed to keep you warm no matter where you sit down at the table. Although it only costs $24.95, you’ll look like a million bucks in it!
4) A subscription to Woman Poker Player Magazine. Woman Poker Player is the only lifestyle publication dedicated to women in poker. For those outside of North America, a sub costs $33.95 (USD) for one year. For ladies who want to learn more about the game they love and the women who are thriving in it such as Liz Lieu and Annie Duke, this mag is a must-have.
3) From Bad Martha, a company that believes “a little bad is really good,” there’s this lovely poker charm bracelet. Retailing for only $75.00, the product is hand-finished and stoned with genuine Swarovski crystals. Made in Italy, this treat is meant to last longer than the holiday season. Sweet!
2) Last year, the Ladies World Series of Poker Champion, Sally Ann Boyer attended the first-ever WSOP Academy Ladies Only Event. The skills she learned there helped her to take down the biggest female-focused tournament in the world. On January 25 & 26, 2008 at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, you can partake of Annie Duke and former FBI agent Joe Navarro’s wisdom in the next Ladies WSOP Academy Event. They’ll teach you the ins and outs of the game for only $1,699. If you learn your lessons well, you can win one of ten $1,000 seats to the 2008 Ladies NLHE Championship, beginning on June 8th with a prize pool reaching into the millions.
1) A trip to the Irish Poker Open Ladies Event. On March 21st, you could be sitting down at an historic event, the first ever Irish Poker Open Ladies Championship. The buy-in for the event is €300 + €30, a room at the Citywest Hotel runs about €115 per night and airfare can run about 83 pounds sterling per adult from Heathrow in London using Aerlingus. However, we figure that being a part of history in a city as wonderful as Dublin is priceless. Don’t you?
