Jennifer Harman Takes Second Place in HORSE Event at WSOPE
September 10, 2007 - Deanna Goodson
Jennifer Harman is on just about everyone's short (and no, that's not a poke at the diminutive diva) list as one of the greatest poker players in the world. She's a top money earner in just about every tournament series and a force to be reckoned with at every table she sits down at. She's got two WSOP bracelets already in her collection, one in Deuce-to-Seven lowball, a game she never played before entering the WSOP tournament she won.
Harman, who's handsome hubby Marco Traniello has become quite a poker player in his own right with a little help from her we're sure, was obviously an odds-on favorite to do well at the WSOPE HORSE championship.
Not only do she run through the field of 104 of the world's best and brightest poker players like a freight train, Harman was in the top spot as the final table got underway. Her £204,000 chips gave her a comfy lead over folks such as the Hendon Mob's Joe Beevers, Alex Kravchenko, the first Russian ever to win a World Series bracelet, and fellow Full Tilt pro Chris "Jesus" Ferguson. Everyone admitted that this would not be a an easy final table to win.
However, Harman made it all the way to heads-up play after battling back from near defeat. Her opponent was a bloke from Betfair poker, which happens to be the series' sponsor. Thomas "The Buzzer" Bihl, a German native, has only been playing the game for four years. However, he emerged victorious after a grueling heads-up match that lasted over 100 hands.
Here are the final results:
1) Thomas Bihl - £70,875
2) Jennifer Harman - £40,688
3) Kirk Morrison - £26,250
4) Chris "Jesus" Ferguson - £21,700
5) Alex Kravchenko - £17,850
6) Yuval Bronshtein - £14,438
7) Joe Beevers - £11,812
8) Gary Jones - £9,188
