Last year, the lovely and talented Shannon Elizabeth finished third at the NBC National Heads-Up Championship. The tournament, which is aired on the NBC television network, is an invitational, meaning folks have to be invited to play in it. Paul Wasicka, who narrowly beat the former American Pie beauty, took down the title. Wasicka, aka kwikfish, took second place at the 2006 WSOP Main Event, losing to Jamie Gold.
History aside, NBC has recently announced its preliminary list of invitees for the 2008 National Heads-Up Championship. Fan faves such as Erick “E-Dog” Lindgren, Barry Greenstein, Johnny Chan, Phil Ivey and Gavin Smith have received their invites along with Chris “Jesus” Ferguson, Doyle Brunson and last year’s second-place finisher, Chad Brown. Brown is perhaps best-known to Chicksnchips readers as the boyfriend of law student/poker player Vanessa Rousso, who we’re fully expecting to see at the event between February 28 and March 2nd in Las Vegas.
Thus far the only lady scheduled to return is the aforementioned Elizabeth. We hope she bests her finish from last year and takes the title home for the ladies in ’08.
