Betfred Sponsors Women’s Poker Tour

The Betfred Women’s Poker Tour began on June 23rd, 2007 at the Circus Casino in Stoke. The tournament series is the first-ever woman’s only circuit in the United Kingdom. Combining online qualifiers with direct buy-ins, the series awards points to the top finishers and adds extra cash to each and every prize pool. This all leads up to a Grand Finale on December 8th, 2007 at the Broadway Casino in Birmingham which will be televised.
Fred Done, the “Fred” in Betfred, said about the series, “This is a unique event – the first of its kind in the UK – and I think it will be a roaring success. I want to find the best female poker player in the UK and will back her with my own money next year to give her a push with her career.”
So far, the tournament series, which is also supported by rockpokeronline.com – they provide live updates of each event – has crowned five champions. These are: Susan Adams (Stoke, Circus Casino – June 23, 2007), Vicki McKay (London, The Western Club – July 21, 2007), Samantha Grayson (Newcastle, Aspers – August 25, 2007), Dawn Wood (Reading, Maxim’s – September 15, 2007) and Carla Goddard (Sheffield, Napoleon’s Owlerton – October 27, 2007).
On November 17, the series heads to the Broadway Casino in Birmingham. We’ll have coverage of that event as well as the Grand Finale for you as soon as the results are available.
