Regette Bechara Wins WPTL Title in NJ
January 24, 2008 - Deanna Goodson

The Ladies took to the felt for Event #6 at the Borgata Winter Open. This was the first stop on the WPT Ladies League. The $300 buy-in drew in 383 entrants and a total prize pool of $114,900. Sitting at the final table was Olga Varkonyi. After playing solid poker, Mrs. Varkonyi – Olga’s husband is Robert Varkonyi, the 2002 WSOP Main Event Champ - took fourth place and $8,043 for her efforts. Earlier in the series, Olga claimed the 35th spot in a NLHE open event, taking down an addition $2,000.
Of course, the night belonged to the champion. Regette Bechara of Sunrise, Florida, staked her claim. Ms. Bechara isn’t a stranger to tournament play. In 2006, Regette cashed in the Ladies NLHE Championship at the World Series of Poker.
For her win, Ms. Bechara received more than $33,000 and an entry to the $1,500 WPT Ladies Championship, which will be played later this year. The next stop on the WPTL is the Commerce Casino. The ladies will compete in a $970 tournament there on February 2, 2008.
