Annette Gives Betfair an Interview
September 28, 2007 - Deanna Goodson
Annette Obrestad won the WSOPE Main Event one day prior to her nineteenth birthday. The poker prodigy, who rose to prominence online using the handle Annette_15, is the first woman to win a World Series of Poker Main Event.
Although Annette's accomplishment is staggering, the shy, well-spoken young Norwegian, remains humble. She admits that "things have been very busy but also very exciting" since her win. She's had "loads of interviews to do in both the UK and Scandinavia." She is holding up well despite the demanding pace and doesn't really mind the media spotlight so far.
When asked what was more important - the bracelet or the cash, Annette promptly replied, "Definitely the bracelet." However, she is "looking to buy a house back in Norway soon for my Mum and I." She's excited that so far in her young career she's earned enough to travel the tournament circuit and buy pretty much whatever she wants or needs.
Annette definitely plans to continue focusing on tournaments, specifically MTTs, which are her specialty. She's never really played cash games seriously and has "no plans to in the future either." Later on this year, she is looking to attend more EPT events and can't wait to go "to Australia for the Aussie Millions."
Annette is confident that she can hold her own against anyone, male or female. Regarding gender, she doesn't "think it really makes a difference."
