Arizona Ladies Championship Results

On September 15, 2007 the ladies took center stage at the Casino Arizona in Scottsdale. At 9am that Saturday morning, 319 women sat down to play in the State Ladies Poker Tournament. It was the second year the Casino hosted the event.
With a top prize of $50,000 and last 45 finishers guaranteed some moolah, there were a lot of reasons to play well. Poker pro, Karina Jett, played in the event, lending her star power to the tournament. She was hoping to the win the tourney, but finished just out of the money. The inexperience of her opponents may have been a factor in her early departure. As she said, "when you're playing with a bunch of women who haven't really played before, it's hard to put them on a hand when they don't know what they have."
When all was said and done, 55 year old Deborah Gudinas, a native of Phoenix, was crowned champ. She received not only the $50,000 and the title, but also a beautiful diamond necklace.
